The Horn

I love the Horn and its culture, from the varied and complex languages, to the unbelievably delectable food. The diverse topography grants for equally diverse people. The music, the food, the community, the strength, and the love are unmatched anywhere else. Because of this I am happy to honorably be deemed Habesha!

It goes without saying that this region is under great turmoil. The Horn suffers from major environmental struggles, as well as an incalculably terse political climate. Not to mention the on-again-off-again relationship this region has with war and diplomacy. I would be remise to create a blog with a focus on such a region without acknowledging the hard truth that so much of the world ignores.

I would like to delve into the vast richness of all things Horn. Discover why the food is just so good. Learn the rhythm of the traditional music. Become better acquainted with the everyday life of the nomads and try to showcase the strength that I have known for more than half of my life.

All this being said to illuminate my primary focus here, almost as a disclaimer. I will not spend much time on the everyday heartache that comes from this region. I want to share the beautiful part of this world that I have grown so much to love.

I, however, have not chosen to neglect the grueling truth of the everyday tumult of the Horn, thus I have constructed a list of resources that I find highly valuable in my regional inquiries.

I really hope you enjoy them!
